Paul's assertion that we all 'reflect the glory of the Lord' reminds us of the dignity that is ours as Christians. In becoming a Christian one is, by the Holy Spirit, transformed into the likeness of Christ. It is a first likeness that is not perfect. We must continually co-operate with the Spirit so that we may become ever more faithful reflections of Christ.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus makes the astounding declaration that anger is as grave as sin as murder. Jesus reinterprets the fifth commandment so that it embraces all those feelings and emotions of which murder is the outcome. He moves to a strong recommendation of fraternal reconciliation. He warns that an unforgiving spirit will come between us and the God we would worship if we are not reconciled.
Lord, help me to forgive those who have hurt me.
