According to St Paul, God reconciled the world to Himself through the death of Christ. On Jesus' resurrection, a new source of life entered the human story. Our past has become irrelevant in God's sight. Every part of us has been made new in Christ because God loves us. That love should move us to accept with equal devotion both hopes and disappointments, successes and failures, joys and sorrows.
In the Gospel Jesus critizes and condemns the use of oaths and religious language for self centred, manipulated and evasive purposes. To Him, a disciple is to speak truthfully and live honestly because he or she is dealing with God in all areas of his or her life. Jesus is the Lord of all our life. He is everywhere, all through life and in every activity, we should bring Him into every transaction. Yes, to Christians integrity means to stand by our words and actions in Jesus' Presence and to offer Him an invitation to everything in our lives. Therefore, we have to be firm in our convictions and say 'Yes' when we mean it and 'No' when we don't.
Help us O Lord to keep our eyes on You in all circumstances especially in what we say and do. Amen.
