We come to the end of the Church year with the celebration of the feast of Christ the King. The Gospel for today is the dialogue between Jesus and Pilate. He hears that Jesus claims to be a king but there is a great difference between Pilate's understanding of "kingship" and Jesus'. Jesus is not a king in control of a large piece of territory. He is a King of people, not just one set of people but of the whole world. He is a King who, in the name of His Father, brings truth, the true understanding of life and its purpose and by His example shows us how to live that life. He is the King of all, even of 'those who pierced him' (2nd reading) and His life is the measure of ours. During the past year we have been hearing the message of Christ every Sunday (and weekdays too). Today all that we have heard is summed up in today's celebration. Let us today vow our total allegiance to him. "Lord, to whom can we go? Only you have the words of eternal life."
May we work together with You, Lord, to bring all into Your Kingdom, Your Kingdom of Love and Truth and Justice.

DAILY OFFERING

Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
