In today's first reading we have a contrast between life and death, being spiritual and unspiritual. We have been gifted with the gift of life through the death and resurrection of Christ and have been set free from sin and death. But perhaps as we reflect on this reading, questions may surface for us, "Do I live as a spiritual or unspiritual person? What motivates my life right now, the Spirit of God or unspiritual things? Do I experience life and peace in my life or like the fig tree in today's Gospel, do I seem lifeless, bearing no fruit?"
Perhaps like the tree this is a call to give some attention to my life so that it may bear more fruit. What is it that is missing or neglected in my life? Maybe I need to go back to the Source, to Christ, to be renewed and strengthened in my faith. God is a merciful and patient God always waiting for us, always offering new life and hope especially when we meet with difficulties. Let us open our hearts today and listen to what He is calling us to do.
Lord we ask for the grace to live by Your Spirit so that we may enjoy the peace and the freedom You have gained for us.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
