One of the most painful experiences any family can have is to have a young child get lost, especially if it happens in a strange place. So it is not difficult to imagine the terrible distress that Mary and Joseph must have felt when they realised that Jesus was lost in a big city full of strangers for the feast. When they did find the Child, He told them that they should have known He was about His Father's affairs. It was another step in Mary's realisation that her Son was not fully hers and that He had a higher and more important mission. This was only the first intimation of future experiences - Jesus leaving home for His public life and ending in the terrible experience on the Cross. At the Annunciation Mary had said Yes to God's will and now she reflects on all this. "She treasured all these experiences in her (Immaculate) Heart." With Mary, let us also say an unconditional Yes to Jesus.

I am the servant of the Lord; let it all happen to me according to Your will.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That our society should, with concrete acts of Christian and brotherly love, come to the aid of the millions of refugees who live in extreme need and abandonment.
