When the Israelites were in danger of dying of hunger and thirst in the wilderness, the Lord came to their rescue. We are in danger of trying to live without God and are hungering for the real life He offers us. In watching over our needs and supplying our wants the Lord draws us to Himself through the sharing of the Holy Eucharist.
The Jews did not believe that Christ could give them His Body as their food. If they knew He would give them Himself under the form of Bread would they have believed Him? Would a stranger watching us receive communion recognize that He was looking at the fulfillment of the promise made at Capernaum? Are we sufficiently aware of the mystery and the love prepared for us as we line up to take Christ at His word and receive Him in the bread that has been changed into His Body?
Lord, increase our faith in Your presence in the Eucharist. In receiving You, help us draw strength for our daily combat with evil. May we who receive You, together be united in love for one another.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
