Jesus has now reached the final turning point in his life. So he makes his decision and turns his face firmly towards Jerusalem. This is the place where He will meet rejection and terrible suffering before dying a horrible death on a cross. But it will also be where He will rise to new life and be the place where His Church will be born with its message for the world.

As they are rejected by some Samaritans on their way, James and John want to wipe them out (their Teacher is the Messiah, isn't he?) but that is not Jesus' way. And in fact, later on, these same Samaritans will be among the first people to accept the message of the Gospel. God takes the long view and is not in a hurry in carrying out his plans. Let us imitate his patience in our life and relationships.

In You, O Lord, all find their home.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
