Today we come to the end of the Easter Season and also to the end of our readings from the Acts of the Apostles and John's Gospel. Each of the readings describes both an end and a beginning. In Acts it is the end of the great mission which began as such a tiny seed (like a mustard seed) with such few resources but now finds itself at the very centre of the Roman Empire. It is only the first stage in the great enterprise when the Gospel of the Kingdom will spread to every corner of the world. It is a mission that still continues and we are an essential part of it.
In the Gospel, too, Peter wants to know what will become of the Beloved Disciple. He is told that it is really not his concern. The Beloved Disciple, who represents every faithful follower of Jesus, will be found in every part of the world where the Gospel is proclaimed and accepted until the Day when the Lord Jesus will come to take all to himself.
We are part of a huge enterprise bringing God's truth, love, justice and community to people everywhere. How is all this a reality in my life?
Help me, Lord, to play an active part in bringing Your Kingdom to this world.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
