For evaluating myself and other people, I use double standards, like a dishonest merchant: I look at my good points through a lens that increases the size of the image, and for my limitations I use the lens that reduces it. For observing other people, I do the other way around. This double standard policy is also called the "funnel law", because I look at things from the narrow or the wide end of the funnel, as convenient. The result of all this dishonesty is a spiritual blindness that mistakes a splinter for a plank!
How about God? No double standard! To judge each one of us, he uses a single standard: the same we use to judge other people: "The judgements you give are the judgements you will get". If you are benevolent, will He be benevolent with you; if you are intransigent, so He will be; so, you had better change your attitudes!
Lord, help me look at my shortcomings and limitations covered by Your precious Blood, so I am not tempted to hide them from myself, nor from others. May I learn from Your mercy, help me forgive myself, so that I may gladly forgive other people.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
