Today a blind man comes to the stage, so Mark selects verbs that underline the sense of hearing: Shouting (twice), calling (three times), saying (twice)... The blind man shouts: shouting is the normal tone of the blind; they feel insecure, and shouting gives them some amount of assurance that someone is hearing. The Lord does not shout: He calls in a gentle tone, either directly or through intermediaries. The blind man identifies the call and from shouting shifts into listening. "What do you want me to do for you?" It is the same question Jesus asked of John and James (Mk 10:36); but compare the answers! The two brothers, although already following Jesus, show a very immature idea of the Kingdom, while the request of the blind man, at this stage of Jesus' preaching, is a real act of Faith. So he deserved the grace he was asking for, at a level he had not suspected: he gained the eyes of Faith and became a follower.

Lord, grant us the grace to respond to You.Dear Jesus, teach me to pray without shouting (for You know my needs), sharpen my ears to identify your gentle call, open my eyes, give me the courage to unconditionally follow You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
