Whom do we turn to in times of need? The Israelites in the wilderness turned to Moses. Moses turned to God and guided the Israelites to God.
In His conversation with the Jews, Jesus asked the Jews the same question, "To whom are you turning?" He then added that unless they turn to Him, they would die in their sins.
The true child of God is not the one who does not sin. Rather, it is the one who knows whom to turn to when one has sinned. Moses made mistakes, but he 'turned to Yahweh' (Ex. 5:22) when everything went wrong. God could then use him again and he became the great leader of the nation of Israel.
As we examine our hearts in this Season of Lent, let us not be crippled by the discovery of ugliness within us. Rather, let us turn to God and experience His cleansing and healing so that we may go on walking with Him.
"I lift my eyes to the mountains; where is help to come from? Help comes to me from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth." (Ps. 121:1-2).
Lord, teach me to turn my eyes upon You so that I may walk with You at all times.
