At first sight the command of Christ to His followers to appeal to the Father for more helpers in the work of salvation seems unnecessary. Of course, it does not mean that the Lord is unaware of the fewness of the workers in His harvest field. Neither does it mean that He underestimates the huge task of converting the world. It does, however, bring home to us the power of our prayer especially when prompted by Christ. We are also meant to appreciate that we are not intended to pray for more announcers of the Good News as if we were mere onlookers at the great struggle over evil. In fact, we should be involved in the mission of the Church of which we are committed members. If we believe that we are living parts of the body of Christ, then we should be active in sharing the blessings of the kingdom with as many as possible.

As an introduction to the work of evangelization Christ instructs His disciples to be a source of blessing to the homes they visit. They are not meant to be a burden to others but bringers of hope and joy.

Father, give us courage to accept our responsibilities to spread words of consolation and strength to those who are hungry for the truth.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the Church may strengthen her commitment to full visible unity in order to manifest in an ever growing degree her nature as community of love, in which is reflected the communion of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
