It is possible to speak very well - beautifully and eloquently - and still be incorrect. What we say is more important than how we say it. Apollos was a gifted and educated man and an excellent speaker but he still needed guidance with regard to the gospel that he was proclaiming. It is important not to be swept away with our own passion and conviction. It is far better to be thoughtful and reflective and to be open to constructive criticism and correction.

Ask for anything in my name and I will give it to you - that certainly sounds exciting. We can think of a long list of things to ask for - and yet sometimes it seems as if our prayers and requests are unanswered. But to ask in the name of Jesus means first putting on His mind and heart - in a sense, we must become Jesus in order to speak in his name. But we first must learn to pray. When we are mired in fear, selfishness, resentment, or other negative attitudes we are asking in our own name. Love is the way that we empower our prayers and remain in the heart of Christ. And when we walk in love as he commands us our joy is truly complete. But we should be careful what we ask for - we just might get it!

Lord, teach me to pray.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the shameful and monstrous trafficking in human beings, which sadly involves millions of women and children, may stop.
