Human standards and values are so often different from those of God. In the first reading, St Paul reminds us to be Christians in the place where we are. It is where God has set us that we must live out the Christian life. Circumstances may be different and difficult but that only makes the situation more challenging. Children, parents, slaves, free men and women - all are stewards of God and answerable to Him.
Before God, all people are equal. Social status and worldly ranks are not relevant when we stand before God.
In like manner, Luke reminds us that entry to the Kingdom of God must never be taken for granted. No one has the prerogative to enter heaven. It is a free gift of God given to those who humbly and consistently strive to live as God wants. Love is the hallmark of the Christian. When others recognize this characteristic of discipleship in us, then we will be able to partake in His banquet of love. There are no exterior criteria or privileges.
Lord, Keep me away from a self-righteous attitude. Lord, that I may see!

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
