"There is no need to be afraid, little flock, for it has pleased your Father to give you the Kingdom...For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also."
The human heart is drawn towards a treasure that can satisfy it - but earthly possessions can become a seductive attraction. Worry and anxiety over holding on to material possessions will deviate us from God's plan for each of us. Lack of faith in a provident God is living a Godless life! When we make God's reign of love our number one priority we stop worrying for we will know, deep down, that God is in charge and he will take care of everything, just as he took care of Abraham and his family, in their wanderings in the desert on the way to the Promised Land.
One way of building our trust in God is by reducing our needs and living a simple life-style, which frees us. For we are created for freedom, freedom greater than the birds and the lilies. We are more precious in God's eyes. When we are preoccupied with God and his Kingdom, we have a definite direction in life...and God gives himself to us!
So, when we pray "May your Kingdom come" we pray for the priority of seeking God's Kingdom.
Our God is a God of surprises, so we are always alert for his coming, in unexpected places and times. "We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey" (Steven Covey).
Our hearts Lord, will not rest till they rest in You. (St. Augustine)
