Some people were looking for Jesus not because they saw signs, but because they ate the loaves and were filled (John 6:26). Others, like Herod in today's Gospel, want to see Him only out of curiosity, to see what miracles he can perform. Still others, like the chief priests and the elders, are searching for Him in order to kill him. Only a few people genuinely seek him because he is everything for them, without whom they cannot live: Mary Magdalene ("Sir, if you carried him away, tell me where you laid him, and I will take him." John 20:15), the apostles ("Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." John 6:68), and saints like Augustine ("Our hearts are restless until they rest in you." Confessions). How about me? If I am really seeking him, what reason motivates my search for him?

Lord Jesus, I seek You, for only You can complete me: without You, life is not life.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That people today, often overwhelmed by noise, may rediscover the value of silence to the voice of God and their brothers and sisters.
