Today's Gospel passage refers to the common setting in which Jesus was dining with the Pharisees. Though the Pharisees were with Jesus, they were not one with Him and the meal ended in a conflict.

When we reflect on the accusations made by Jesus against the Pharisees and the lawyers, we are challenged to ask ourselves these questions: "How much of our 'religion' is a matter of external observance?" "Are we concerned with the issues of 'Justice and Love of God'?" (v.42)

In the first reading, St. Paul was serious about the behaviour of the Galatians whose behaviour was contrary to the teachings of Jesus and he warned them that if this persisted, they would not inherit the Kingdom of God. (v.21). Paul reminded them of the fruits of the Spirit (v.22). The list he gave refer to the important and fundamental dimension of Christian morality which is that of LOVE that is revealed by Jesus on the Cross. Upon realization of their sinful habits, Paul gave them the answer not to be subject to Jewish law which would not give them the life they sought after. They needed to be 'led by the Spirit' and allow the Spirit to penetrate every aspect of their lives by dying to selfishness and to give their lives in love to others. This is a good reminder to us too.

Lord Jesus help us to love You by serving especially those who are deprived and rejected in society.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
