A young person is at a critical moment of his life. He has discerned that it is time to accept the invitation to grace, leave his quiet security and take up a ministry of professing God’s love for his people.
Today’s first reading is about spiritual liberation. This freedom allows us to see God’s renewed relationship with us and generates in us a desire to want to enter into that relationship. In faith and with discernment, Jesus the Nazarene makes a conscious decision to enter into this renewed relationship with God, symbolised by receiving baptism. When coming up out of the water Jesus receives an indelible confirmation from the Father and the Spirit. The knowledge of who he is - his identity - provides the key to an understanding of his ministry to profess God’s forgiving and saving love. Jesus will be faithful to God with the faithfulness of God’s own Son. Today we celebrate the baptism of the Lord.
May we be granted the grace to enter into this loving relationship with the Triune God and have life, through baptism and believing and following Jesus Christ, Son of God.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
