"You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness." Although no one knows when the Lord will come to judge us in his justice, we are not supposed to despair but just to be awake. In the Gospel, we learn from the man possessed by an unclean demon that in prayer nothing is impossible. This man, although possessed, was in the synagogue when Jesus arrived. In deep prayer and communion with God, the man was totally disposed to receive deliverance from the unclean spirit. This was his day of salvation. As a matter of fact, he did not have to do anything else because he was alert enough. The unclean spirit is the one that had to beg Jesus to drive it away from his holy presence. Often when we face the darkest times of our life, we may be tempted to use unhealthy escape methods rather than enter into prayer to ask for God's help. Today, we are reminded that only prayer delivers us from the darkest abyss. Let us become attuned to the powerful healing of the Lord and receive the many blessings that dissipate all our sorrows.

Grant us, Lord, the grace of prayer and meditation to love and grow closer to You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
