Tough times require fidelity, courage, and compassion. Jude encourages the community to remain anchored in their faith, but also in the Spirit and in mercy. They should be eager to give hope, encouragement, and support to those who are struggling or wavering in their faith. Giving hope and courage to another is one of the greatest gifts we can give, and it is a true sign of one who is bringing Christ to others. In the frightening and dark times in which we live, let us resolve to be a light and a blessing for others, especially those in most need.

The authorities questioned the actions of Jesus, demanding that he reveal by what authority he taught and ministered. He refused to answer - instead, he posed a counter-question to them. It was a question they could not answer without risk to themselves, so they declined. It involved the way in which they had responded to the preaching of John the Baptist, and their reluctance revealed how closed their minds and hearts were to God. Rather than reacting defensively and aggressively to those with whom we do not agree, let us listen with the heart and consider what they say. Who knows, we might learn something!

Lord, may I be a source of hope to others.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
