We too often think of the final judgement as God's opportunity to condemn us or even to cast great sinners into hell. But from another point of view we may consider God's final judgement in terms of God's on-going yet unfinished work of creation. When all of creation is gathered under one head (cf. Ephesians 1:10) which is Christ Jesus, made flesh and risen from the dead and ascended to the Father to complete the work of our redemption, when before the Father and all the angels he acknowledges all things as his own. We are to play a part in Jesus' gathering of all things to present to the Father by acknowledging him before the world as Lord and saviour. When Jesus presents all things to the Father, the work of creation is finally complete in the salvation Jesus won for us on the cross, and so the Father pronounces his final judgement. "It is very good", as he started pronouncing at the end of each day of creation in Genesis and all our human brokenness is finally healed and everything is made good.
Father in Heaven, in Your gracious providence, grant that in all things we will courageously and faithfully acknowledge Jesus before the world as the only Lord and Saviour.

Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others.
