Struck blind by fresh droppings of sparrows, Tobit now depends on his wife, Anna, who becomes the wage earner.

Once, she is given a goat by her employers. However, Tobit accuses her of stealing the goat and insists that she return it to the owners. Hurt by Tobit's accusation, Anna insults Tobit by saying his acts of kindness have only brought him trouble. Tobit, now himself grieved by his wife's insults, cries out to God.

On the same day, a woman named Sarah cries out to God. Seven times she was married. And on the night of her wedding, each of her husbands is killed by an evil spirit. Now, there is no other close male relative for her to marry. Her unfortunate circumstance leads one of her servants to ridicule her, saying 'it is better for Sarah to die'. Filled with grief, Sarah contemplates suicide but changes her mind for the love of her father. She turns to God in prayer.

The Sadducees bring a question about marriage and the resurrection before Jesus. They intended to ridicule the resurrection and insult Jesus, who teaches them about the resurrection. Jesus skilfully replies to their question and points out that the Sadducees did not understand the power of God, who is capable of achieving something far beyond human thinking or imagining. The Resurrection of life is something different and higher than life in this world. Human beings can ridicule and insult, but God is always in control!
