"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it." Our lives are marked by decisions and choices that we make, which may enrich us or destroy us.
Unfortunately, many of us choose to conform to society by making choices, especially by being cautious while facing seemingly easy paths. By allowing ourselves to be guided by the Holy Spirit and avoiding easy ways, we become more and more acquainted with God's ways and through obedience to Him, we enrich our lives.
A good model of the virtue of listening to God's call is found in today's first reading, which portrays Abraham, who chose to move from one place to another as God instructed him instead of the comfort of stability.
Many of us like to stay in our comfort zones by giving up creativity and avoiding challenges. In this way, we deprive ourselves of the vibrancy and richness of life. It is very important that we allow ourselves to be challenged by life.
Lord Jesus, grant us the grace to be obedient to Your call and to brave the challenges of life with hope and perseverance.
