We all need reassurance at times. Life is scary, and we live in a very insecure and scary world. God reassured the people through the prophet Zechariah that He would surround Jerusalem with protection and that He would turn aside their enemies. When faced with threats or frightening situations, we need to rely more on the promises of God. We can surround ourselves and our loved ones with the protective shield of God's love and grace in the Spirit.

Jesus did not hide anything. He often told His followers what was in store for Him - arrest, trial, and crucifixion. But people filter out what they do not want to hear. When Jesus told His disciples what was to come, they weren't bothered about it and did ask Him to explain even though they did not understand Him. It is the same with our own lives. Others may tell us things; God may tell us a lot. But the words might not be welcome, and often they are ignored. Yet, we are not alone or cast adrift - the Lord guides us to come out of danger if only we listen.

Lord, surround me with Your protection and guidance.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
We pray for those persons living on the margins of society, in inhumane life conditions; may they not be overlooked by institutions and never considered of lesser important.
