"Anyone who does the Will of My Father, that person is My brother, sister and mother" (Mk 3:25). Without mincing words, this statement of Jesus clarifies that there is no exemption for anyone not to do the Will of God the Father. In doing so, the fraternal relationship between siblings is extended beyond biological heritage. This is the face of the Church. The profile of heirs to the Kingdom of God.

In the Book of Genesis, disobedience is clearly regarded as the root cause to filial breakups and communion with God. Yet, St Paul's experience of seeing God's immense mercy is our focus, instead of eyeing the ephemeral and decaying physical pleasures. Our inner disposition is renewed by every effort to align our will to God's.

How have I regarded my relationship with the Church as a community of vulnerable but resilient brothers, sisters and mothers and fathers? It is always easy to blame. To commend and be edified by the humble service and kindly presence of those in every participation of the Church's celebration and charity drive is a litmus test to our connection with God's Will. The temptation to deduce people's good work and charitable effort as mere self - glorification is actually a projection of our envious intent. The scribes who mocked Jesus depicted this intent. God simply extends an embrace to those who welcome Him. How do we fare in lasting relationships?

Lord, keep us ever mindful of Your warm and open embrace to welcome us home.
