Noah had been in the ark for a long time. Finally, the waters were subsiding, so Noah sent out a raven to see if there was dry land. He then sent out a dove three times. Eventually, the dove did not return, indicating that the bird had found dry land. That was a sign for Noah that the flood was over, and the inhabitants of the ark could disembark. God had saved the remnant of His people who would begin again to live on the land that God had provided for them. Though God sees the evil desires of man, He will not strike him down. God will treat the people as a potter shapes the clay (Jer 18:6).
The people who brought the blind man to Jesus believed that Jesus had the power to heal. Jesus led the blind man out of the village. He restored his sight and pointed him to a new direction. Do we believe in Jesus' power to heal? Here it was Jesus who led the man out of the village and the healing of the blind man involved a two-step process. At first, he was only partially healed, so Jesus laid hands on him again and his healing was complete. That is the way in which spiritual healing occurs as well - we must continually go to Jesus and follow Him and remain in Him so that we can become more like Him. He will show us a new direction of living.
Lord, lead and teach me to see ordinary things anew.
