Exorcism is always a fascinating topic of discussion. With so Why was Azariah in the heart of the fire (Dan 3:25)? It was because he had refused to worship the golden statue that Nebuchadnezzar, the Babylonian king, had set up; and therefore, was thrown into a burning furnace. In this extraordinary situation, Azariah chose to pray. In his prayer, we hear him asking God for the forgiveness of his people; appealing to God's covenant, gentleness, and mercy; and promising, on behalf of God's people, to follow and seek God wholeheartedly. The Psalmist too seeks God's mercy. He prays with the assurance that God is his Lord and Saviour. The Gospel reading presents us with someone who had been forgiven, but would not extend forgiveness to a fellow servant. As a result, his default was reinstated, and he went on to suffer the due punishment for his debt. In our daily lives, are we aware of our need to repent and to confess our sins to God? Whenever we receive the absolution after confession, do we remember to extend forgiveness to those who have offended us? Do we, like Azariah, take on the responsibility to pray to God, on behalf of others for their sins, so that, together as a community of faith, we may live lives that are wholesome and pleasing to God?

Lord, this Lent, we want to come back to You with all our hearts.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
For disarmament and peace.
Let us pray that nations move towards effective disarmament, particularly nuclear disarmament, and that world leaders choose the path of dialogue and diplomacy instead of violence.
