In the first reading, the Samaritans welcomed the Good News by sight and by sound, for either they saw the miracles themselves or had heard about them from others. Like Philip who preached to them, we have to be good witnesses both in words and actions.

In the second reading, Peter tells his audience to ‘’always have your answer ready for people who ask you the reason for the hope that you all have’’ (1 Pt 3:15). For him, the way Christians respond to others and live their lives, especially in a measured and calm manner, speaks more convincingly of the Good News than any display of aggressive and offensive defense of their Christian faith. Let us be reminded by the words of Peter to be better living witnesses of Christ in the world.

In the Gospel, Jesus assures us that He will not leave us orphans by Him going away. He remains in us, just as we remain in Him. When we do this, we show forth Jesus to others by our words and actions. Love will further strengthen this abiding in Jesus. As we live in Jesus and the Father, their love will remain in each one of us and among us, flowing out for others to see and hear.

Lord, help us to be credible witnesses of the Good News by living a good life in You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
