在一本彌撒經書（梵二後的MISSALE PARVUM）中，讀到其中有一段依撒意亞先知書第九章的某節經文：
... multiplicasti gentem non magnificasti laetitiam ... (Is 9,3)
乍看之下，似乎和我們平時在聖誕節聽到的不一樣：
「祢加強了他們的歡樂，擴大了他們的歡喜」（依九2）
再查看一下Nova Vulgata：
... multiplicasti exsultationem et magnificasti laetitiam ... (Is 9,2)
為何新舊版本之間，會有這麼大的分別呢？

根據七十賢士本的譯文：
... To pleiston tou laou, o kat'egages en euphrosyne sou kai euphranthesontai enopion sou ...
... the multitude of the people which thou hast brought down in thy joy ...
而根據希伯來文聖經的譯文（Koren Publishers Jerusalem Ltd）：
... for thou hast multiplied the nation, and increased their joy ...

市面上有一本《The Dead Sea Scrolls Bible》（Harper SanFrancisco，1999），聲稱是將死海古卷的聖經部分，譯成英文。當中的版本是這樣的：
"You have expanded the nation, you have increased its joy."
