Peter's sermon explains the importance of the cure. In the name of
Jesus, glorified by the Father, God has broken into the world and shown His
desire to renew humankind through the Resurrection. Peter pleads with
the people to open their eyes and accept the one sent by God that they
might receive refreshment and comfort - paraklesis, the gift of the
Spirit.
Jesus offers peace to His disciples and forgiveness of sins to all
nations. This is the fulfillment of God's plan working in the world. Jesus'
appearance is to enlighten the eyes of the disciples to the depth of
meaning in Himself, that He is God's offer to all creation and that they
are His witnesses. Entering in peace, offering enlightenment and
forgiveness, Jesus works a constant renewal in the human heart.
Father, You have rasied Your Son Jesus to bless us. Thank You Father
for drawing us away from our wickedness.
