In today's world we often lose sight of the beauty in very simple things. Our striving to master the physical world leads to more complicated and complex structures which seem to provide a buffer between ourselves and reality. Today's readings bring us face to face with what God considers as the most important things in life. Exodus shows us that, if we truly trust in God and follow His teachings, then His angel, the bearer and guardian of His message, will always be there to help and guide us in our hour of need. In Matthew, Jesus, in reply to the disciples' question 'Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?' explains that unless we make ourselves like a little child then we will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Little children are simple, uncomplicated creatures who are completely trusting and this is how we should also be in our dealings with God. After all God knows our deepest thoughts, our every deed and true motives; in fact there is nowhere where we can hide from God. Therefore in all that we do, we should always strive to be open and honest like a child, as God promises our reward will be great in heaven. God will never let us down no matter how many trials we have in this life.
Lord teach us to trust in You.
