There is nothing we can do to make God love us more or less. God's love is unconditional and without limit. God has reached down and saved us in Jesus for no other reason than He loves us. We have not earned it, and it is not a matter of being worthy. God is indeed love, and if this is how God has acted towards us, then that is how we must treat others. We love others regardless of who they are, what they have done, or their attitude towards us. We love them because that is what God is, and deep within us, that is what we are. How rich in love are we?
What is the most important thing in life? We sometimes think that wealth and success are at the top of the list, but there can be those moments of absolute clarity that illuminate life's true meaning. Many of those who lost their lives in the September 11 attack had the opportunity to call loved ones in the final minutes. The stock market and the economy were not on their minds. The words 'I love you' and expressions of gratitude and concern were on their lips. Many people who survived that terrible day say that the most precious things they have are love, family, friends, and for many, God. These are what we take with us from this world. Jesus encourages us to define what is most important for us. Seek God today, not tomorrow. Love others today, not next week. Today is the gift of God.
Lord, may I share the love You have shown me with others.

Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
