"Sir, I want to see again" (Lk. 18:41). What can a blind man want more than sight! Despite his blindness and physical inability to see, the man deep in his spirit, knows who is the one who can heal and deliver him from his plight.

The crowd, the many others who could physically see, were also reaching out for Jesus but because they were not spiritualy blind, their approach was different and so it is with us. For those of us who are blessed with the gift of sight we must know that all the same we are still in need of God's saving and healing touch. We must recognise that people like ourselves are after the same quest - we want to touch or to be touched and healed by the One who has the power to heal, Jesus. If we realise this, then we would not be so easily annoyed or irritated nor would we want to stop the "wild shoutings" and possibly the flagging of arms of our blind brethren. Surely then we would be moved by the understanding and compassion of our Lord Himself and "see" that all of us, without exception, has a desperate need for God. It is our duty to help one another to encounter Jesus.
