It would be a good idea to read very slowly through the story of the two disciples on their way to Emmaus and be with them as they walk along the road with Jesus. This story is both a summary of the whole Gospel and also a model of the Eucharist. The men are running away as we so often do. They are on the right road but going the wrong way. Jesus enlightens them by explaining the meaning of the Scriptures; we cannot live Christian lives without being familiar with the Word of God. It transformed their thinking ("Were not our hearts burning?"), and can do the same for us. In the house (the place where God's people meet), he breaks the Bread with them and their eyes are opened. And then they turn round and go back to where they should be - with the community of brothers and sisters that is preparing to proclaim the Good News of God's love to the world.

May we experience the joy of Easter and share that joy with all those who need it.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That solid preparation of the candidates for Holy Orders and permanent training of ordained ministers may be carefully provided for.
