"It was not like this from the beginning": This statement on divorce reappears again and again in history in varying forms.

Moses instructs his people on how to proceed if the unavoidable divorce situation arises. This situation is present even today. A government that legalizes divorce also produces media materials to prevent it, because of the evils it brings to society.

The ideal of marital love is written in every human heart. Ask any teenager who has fallen in love for the first time: "For how long are you going to love him/her? Is there a third partner in your love?" He/she will be annoyed that such questions are posed at all. When one truly falls in love, then that person's stand is as radical as Jesus': A single partner and forever. Now, when Jesus brings Marriage to its original radicalness, does He provide the means to teach "the unteachable?" He does: "A man can have no greater love than to lay down his life for his friends" Bring this quality of love to Marriage and divorce cease to be an option.

Lord, give me the courage to love as You did.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
