Concern for the earth and the care of our environment are some of the better aspects of our modern world, even though that care and concern are too often opposed by the greed of those who wish to get rich at whatever cost, even the cost of a ravished and rubbished earth.
"I am the Lord, there is no other". This revelation liberates us from all superstition and false religion. We live in a world which is not peopled by multifarious gods and spirits but only by human beings, who are created in the image of God. There is, unfortunately, a negative side to this liberation. When we have removed all the idols from the world, we are in danger of forgetting that the world is still a sacred place, for it is God's creation. We do not own this world: we are only God's stewards in caring for it. Secular environmentalism reminds us of our responsibility of stewardship. Our Christian faith calls upon us to return to God, the source of all life and sacredness, to love all of God's creation and to exercise our stewardship as a way of praising and serving God.
Father in heaven Lord and Creator, grant us the grace to be wise stewards of all Your gifts.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
