The Holy Family was clearly something very special. It had been brought about by a very special intervention of God and God himself, through Jesus, was at the very heart of it. But it was not a privileged family. In today's Gospel we see them fleeing to Egypt in order to avoid danger to the life of the Child from a cruel and jealous king. When the situation is safe they return to their home town of Nazareth. It was a place of relative obscurity so that a future disciple could say: "Can anything good come from that place?" Today we reflect on our own family life and on the role of each person in it. Are Jesus and His Spirit at the centre of our home? What can we do to make our family a better place not only for its members but as having a good influence on our neighbours also?
May the peace of Christ reign in our families!

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
