John the Baptist tells us that Jesus is the Lamb of God. In the great Passover feast of the Jews where they celebrated their liberation from slavery and their journey to the Promised Land, the lamb played a central role. It was the blood of the lamb, painted on the doorposts, which made sure the Angel of Death passed over the houses of the Israelites. It was the beginning of their liberation.

We are liberated from a much deeper slavery, the slavery to evil and sin, by the Blood of the Lamb that is Jesus Christ. By the death of Jesus God's love was poured out on us. The First Reading reminds us that by remaining always in that love and letting it pour out on to all those around us, we will know that we are not living in sin. It is only in that love that we can know and see the Lord present in our lives.

Thank You, Jesus, for all You have done for us. Help us to respond by loving as You did and continue to do.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all men and women may recognise that they are members of God's one family and end wars, injustice and discrimination among themselves.
