We often say that 'Seeing is believing'. In fact, normally, seeing is not just believing but knowing. When Thomas saw the Risen Jesus and saw the wounds in his hands and side, he did not just see and know - he believed. He is the only person in the whole Gospel who calls Jesus 'God'. He did not do that merely on what he saw with his external eyes. He had an inner vision which told him that the Person standing before him was not just the man Jesus he had known before the Crucifixion but his very God. And then Jesus tells him that those are truly blessed who can see their Lord and God in Him, even without the benefit of touching His wounds. What we need to learn is that we meet our Lord and God present in all the people we come in contact with, especially those in material and spiritual need, even in those whose behaviour seems far from the Gospel teaching or whose behaviour causes us pain and distress. That is real faith.

Lord, I have faith - but not enough! Increase my faith!

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all those who are able to benefit from a holiday period may be helped during their vacation to rediscover in God their inner harmony and to open themselves to the love of human beings.
