Today we are given the basis for our Christian life and vocation. Through Isaiah God tells us that He is preparing "a new heaven and a new earth" - where "the past will not be remembered" where the "sound of weeping" will be no more. Surely, many of us desire this! It is a desire for newness. Through the Evangelist John we are shown the way to achieve this newness. "The man believed what Jesus had said . . . and started on his way". And it was while he was still on the journey back that at the "seventh hour" he was told of the healing that took place in his son. He experienced the healing power of Jesus.
The newness that comes during this season is that we are connected to God by holding on to Jesus' words. The "seventh hour" is the moment when we come to faith in God, as we recognise the power of Jesus. This is the moment of Jesus' complete surrender to His Father in our lives. It is the moment of the Rising; it is the moment when He brings to perfection all of creation. This hour is taking place now in us!
It is we who need to realize this in our lives so that our joy and gladness will be complete.
Lord, help us to have a trusting faith in You.

DAILY OFFERING

Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
