Today's alleluia verse gives us great hope. "Our Saviour Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel.
The Sadducees in today's Gospel reading put a question to Jesus to trap Him. They could not believe in the Resurrection because there is no information in the law of Moses stating this. Jesus uses arguments they could understand to answer their questions. He met them on their own ground and taught them in their own language so that the Scribes could say "Teacher you have taught well", "God is not God of the dead but of the living, for to him all are alive". God is the author of all life and promise. Through Baptism we are made children of God and children of the Resurrection. As children of God this is our hope. Christ has destroyed death and we can look forward to fullness of life with God when our earthly journey is over. Death for us is not an end but a new beginning. Then the pleasures of this life will pass away as we reach our true homeland. There all the desires of our heart will be fulfilled and we can enjoy fullness of life with God forever.
Lord we thank You for the promise of Resurrection and new life that gives hope to us as we make our journey in this life.
