We are once again entering the season of Advent leading up to Christmas. The word 'Advent' means 'coming' and it is the time when we prepare to welcome the coming of our God to live among us as one of us. But it is not just a past coming we celebrate. It is a time to think also of that final coming when He will take us to Himself and my readiness for that moment. And also time to become more aware of the comings that happen to us every day.
In today's Gospel an army officer pleads with Jesus over one of his slaves who is seriously ill. To which Jesus beautifully responds: "I will come myself and heal him." During this Advent season, Jesus wants to come to me also - even though I am unworthy that He should enter under my roof. He wants to bring me healing and wholeness. Let this Advent be a time when I am totally open to the coming of Jesus and ready to respond to whatever He calls me.
Lord, let Your face shine on us and we will be saved!

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
