Whenever we encounter suffering and frustration, we frequently ask: "Why me?", "How is it that God is so unfair to me?" Today's first reading reminds us that, in everything we go through, in all the sufferings we endure, we are not alone. Jesus has already had a full share in it. God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to be a human being. Jesus laughed, cried, was tempted along with us and for us. He became one of us - He struggled, suffered and died.
This human life of Jesus was missionary, always for others and for the Father. Today's Gospel tells us about a typical day in the life of Jesus. He cured the afflicted and cast our demons. He attended to Simon's mother-in-law immediately He was told of her illness. In order to be with His Father, He rose early in the morning to pray. When His disciples tracked Him down, Jesus, the merciful and faithful high priest, moved on with His missionary work: "That is what I have come to do".
Dear Jesus, help us to be truly and fully human. Guide us in life so that we may be like You and live for You.

Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
