"Their hope is full of immortality"; "those who trust in him shall understand truth, and the faithful shall abide with him in love". In these two sentences, the Book of Wisdom indirectly and fortuitously touches upon the three virtues which in the New Testament became the central focus of a Christian spirituality: faith, hope and love. This passage from the Book of Wisdom is often used for funeral Masses, because it contrasts life as the godless see it with the way in which a person of faith will look at death. Trust is the inter-personal relationship which is grounded in faith. It is our faith in God which allows us to see the truth about life and hence the truth about death. Faith allows us to live lives which are brightened by the hope of immortality in contrast to the darkness which this world would try to force on us. Faith not only allows us to see the truth: the deeper our faith, the more we will find the truth attractive: we will come to love the truth, particularly the truth which is identified with the person of Jesus Himself. Ever closer union with Jesus will make our hope ever firmer and brighter.

Father in heaven, deepen our faith, hope and love.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That married people may imitate the example of conjugal holiness shown by so many couples in the ordinary conditions of life.
