Faith believes in the impossible. When that faith is anchored in an almighty and eternal God it is justified.

What recommendation did Abraham have to gain anyone's confidence that he would be the father of a nation, and have descendants as many as the stars? But did he think about his body, too old to sire children? Or of his wife Sarah, who was unable to conceive? If he did, he would have ignored God's promise. But no, he hung on to God's every word, and waited for it to happen! And his faith was justified.

The rich fool in today's parable, however was empty. His accumulated wealth became his symbol of separation fromGod. His greed and self-satisfaction numbered his senses of gratitude to God, the one from whom all good things come. Alienation from God is a dangerous situation. Our way of life, our values, our thoughts, emotions and behaviour lose their anchor, and set adrift. This is what happened to the rich fool. By his utter disposal of the one who holds his life in his hands, the man engineered his own damnation.

Let us never forget then that faith is always rewarded.

Thank You Lord Jesus for the gift of faith.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christians may not be discouraged by the attacks of secularized society, but with complete trust, may bear witness to their faith and hope.
