Words can become stale very quickly. Many people long for a fresh word to throw light on their personal lives. Those who are concerned about world problems know that stale answers have no effect. The police who went out to arrest Jesus heard Him speak and recognized that no man had ever spoken like Him. His word is new and relevant. His word is life and can enter into any real situation and give it meaning. Nicodemus urged the authorities to give Christ a hearing. If we really gave Christ a hearing we would hear the strong vibrant message that Nicodemus heard - that there is hope for human beings, that a person's life can be made new from the inside, that he or she can actually be reborn and become part of the kingdom of God.

Jesus went to His death like a "trustful lamb". As a trustful lamb He identified Himself with all who are dependent on others for life and sustenance: the unborn baby, the very old, the hungry multitudes of the world, the unprotected and vulnerable everywhere.

Father, let the trust of Your Son in You be a source of strength for me and a sure hope of Your guidance in doing Your will faithfully.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
