Today's Gospel is Mark's version of Jesus' parting words to His disciples before He left them to return to His Father. He tells them to go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News of the Gospel to people everywhere. Those who believe and are baptised will be saved. Those who do not believe will be condemned. Those who do not believe are not just those who do not accept Jesus as Saviour and Lord, but those who reject the very way of living that Jesus proposes: a way of living that is based on an unconditional love and caring for every other person. Jesus' life was one of caring, of compassion, of forgiveness, of healing. Only such a life is in harmony with the Way of Jesus which is also the Way of God. This is a message we can bring to everyone, even to those who do not want to belong to our number. Because it is a message for everyone - Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, agnostic, atheist. Let us begin by living it ourselves.
We preach Christ who is the power and wisdom of God.

Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others.
