From the standpoint of one who is unable to swim, Peter seems rather brave to attempt his "walk" on the rough waters. After all, the episode of the multiplication of the loaves and fish must be fresh in his memory. But under the sudden difficult conditions he faced, his faith in the Lord began to evaporate and he began to lose his bearings and began to sink. Yet Peter was rescued when he turned to the one who was able to help him - Jesus.

Being a Christian does not exempt one from the storms of life. Yet we have the assurance of a lifeguard who watches out for us. What is needed is faith and courage, however deficient they may be!

That God does indeed care for His people despite their troubles is also borne out by the prophet Jeremiah in his Book of Consolation. His people suffered exile as a result of their sins. God promises them the restoration of their homeland. Here again God comes to their rescue.

Lord, be with me guiding me through life's storms; be my rescuer.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
