In response to the angel's discreet invitation, Mary went to share her joy with her elderly cousin, Elizabeth. The promise made to Zechariah (Lk. 1:15) was fulfilled: his son was indeed filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother's womb. During this visit Mary first became God's humble witness. This visit manifested Mary's generosity and revealed her as the most blessed among women. Her faith and courage on the day of the Annunciation, as she said "Yes" and accepted to be the mother of the Lord, had already shown her great commitment to God. No matter what she would suffer, her only intention was to glorify God. Could we make a similar "commitment of love" to our Lord this Christmas? Could we, like Mary, say "Yes" to our Lord without any hesitation?

How often we hesitate, because of weakness and blindness. We easily blame others and even God for disappointments and sufferings. We are blind and do not see God's love and consolation constantly and abundantly working together with our suffering for our salvation.

Let us pray that our love for God be purified, so that we may like Mary have the courage to commit ourselves to the Lord.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christ, meek and humble of heart, may inspire those responsible for nations to use power wisely and responsibly.
