"What do you want?", asked Jesus. They wanted to know more about Jesus, and so the disciples of John the Baptist asked a question in return, asked in the manner of the people of the East: "Where do you live?" "Come and see", He replied, and they went and stayed with Him the rest of that day. The result was that they became His first followers.
I also follow Jesus. If He asked me, "What do you want?", how would I answer? Could I say, "I want to be like Samuel" or "Speak, Lord, your servant is listening" or "I want to be like Paul, firmly convinced that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit - to be used for the glory of God, not for impurity? Or give any of these other answers: I want you to be my teacher, guiding me throughout the perplexities of life: I want you to be my brother, helping me over the rough patches in my pilgrimage: I want you to be my friend, so that I can confide in You with complete openness.
Lord Jesus, give me the grace to be able to answer like that.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
